Meet the Doctors
Michael James Bernard, D.D.S., M.S.
Dr. Mike Bernard graduated from Brush High School in Lyndhurst, a suburb of Cleveland. He received his B.S. in Biology at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania and then returned to Ohio for his D.D.S. and M.S. degrees at The Ohio State University. Before his orthodontic residency, he served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force for two years, completed a one-year General Practice Residency program at Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh, and practiced general dentistry in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After qualifying as an orthodontic specialist, he joined Dr. Harry Osborne in 1971 and now has been practicing with Dr. James Eimer since 2000.
Dr. Bernard is a member of the American Dental Association, the Ohio Dental Association and is a past-president of the Stark County Dental Association. In 2006, he was inducted into the Stark County Dental Association’s Distinguished Dental Service Academy. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Great Lakes Society of Orthodontics and is a member and past-president of the Cleveland Society of Orthodontists. He is also past-president and a member of the Ohio State Orthodontic Alumni Foundation. In 1986, he was certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and is a member of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics. He was awarded the Ohio Dental Association’s “Humanitarian Award” in 1994.
Dr. Bernard is a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church of North Canton where he has taught religious education to eighth graders for 15 years. He is also past-president of the North Canton Community Intervention Committee and has coached soccer, basketball, and t-ball through the North Canton YMCA youth programs. He is also active in the YMCA Big Brother/Big Sister Program. Dr. Bernard and his wife Sally, a drug and alcohol counselor, have four children. Chris and Marci are adults and Allison and Matt are in high school. When out of the office, Dr. Bernard enjoys children, travel, and skiing, biking and aerobic exercise.
James T. Eimer, D.D.S. M.S.
Dr. Jim Eimer graduated from Padua High School in Cleveland and did his undergrad work at the University of Detroit. He received his dental degree from Ohio State in 1990 and then completed a one-year General Practice Residency in the US Air Force. After four more years in the Air Force in Idaho, he returned to Ohio and practiced family dentistry in Marysville and served as an instructor in the restorative department at Ohio State. He graduated from Ohio State’s Orthodontic Program in June of 2000 with a certificate in Orthodontics and a Masters of Science degree.
Dr. Eimer is a member of multiple professional groups including the American Dental Association, Stark County Dental Society, Ohio Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Cleveland Orthodontic Society and is the current President of the Ohio State Orthodontic Alumni Foundation.
Dr. Eimer is dedicated to friendly, gentle and quality orthodontic treatment. Jim, his wife, Suze, and daughter, Elena, currently live in the Louisville community.
Harry A. Osborne, D.D.S. M.S.
Dr. Harry Osborne left the full-time practice of orthodontics in 2001. Dr. James Eimer took his place in the two-doctor practice and Dr. Osborne comes into the office on occasions where either Dr. Bernard or Dr. Eimer have to be out of the office and need a qualified and experienced orthodontist to take their place. He also handles emergencies when both doctors are out of town.
Dr. Osborne is from Youngstown and received his DDS degree from the University of Pittsburgh and his orthodontic training at Northwestern University. He is a member of the American Dental Society, the Ohio Dental Society and is a past-president of the Stark County Dental Society as well as a charter inductee into the Stark County Dental Society’s Distinguished Dental Service Academy. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontist, the Great Lakes Society of Orthodontists and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontists. He is a member of the Pierre Fouchard Academy, the International College of Dentists and has been a guest lecturer in the orthodontic department of the Ohio State College of Dentistry. His biography was included in the 1997-99 edition of “Who’s Who in America”.
